CEO & Instructor
Carine fell in love with the Pilates method 10 years ago. A passion for teaching and motivating people, led her to complete her Mat Course under the tutelage of Tanya Thompson at Pilates Unlimited.
Working for a charity organisation, she followed her heart and left the organisation to pursue her true calling and passion: improving the quality of lives through fitness.
She took the jump and opened Sage Pilates. From humble beginnings of teaching classes in her living room, she moved on to opening her own professional studio.
Carine's life motto is: "flexibility is the key to success". Life takes you on different twists and turns. Just go with the flow. Work around the changes and challenges.
She is currently completing her Comprehensive course with Pilates Unlimited.
As a marine scientist I have always enjoyed being outdoors, so sports like scuba diving and rock climbing became an important part of my life. Although, I did not find them very suitable when I was far into my first pregnancy.
I joined baby Pilates when my daughter was 5 months old baby to help me alleviate the back pain I experienced in my pregnancy and to strengthen my musculature after a long period with lack of activity. I continued practising Pilates for three years and decided to train as an instructor.
Now, I completed my BASI Mat Teacher Training Course and I am currently giving classes at Sage Studio while looking into training into Pilates equipment and pre and post-natal classes. When I am not at the studio, I work in the environmental consultancy company that my partner Izak and I started together, and also taking translation projects into Spanish, my mother tongue.
I became fascinated by how the Pilates method can help to recover and at the same time to improve your health being adequate for people in any kind of physical state or age. That is why my aim is to transmit this passion and interested through my classes and to our clients.
